I’ve always enjoyed the
frosting and icing on brownies, cupcakes and cakes. Confession: if there isn’t
icing it’s a little bit boring to me. I came up with this name kind of
impulsively. I wanted to start a blog in graduate school as an outlet and
because I loved writing.
I named it “icing on
the cake” because my little blog was kind of a fun space for me. It was
the extra, the good, and the happy. It was set-apart from my regular life where
I took time and intention to write out my thoughts. It added flavor to my life.
It helped me be more aware and more present with myself.
My blog has just
added that extra kick that some recipes need. Here I’ve met so many other
wonderful bloggers and friends. I’ve found an outlet to be creative and write.
It’s been a safe place to find my voice and learn what it means to use it.
I’m excited to read
about where all your blog names came from!
I love the reasoning behind your blog name, Heather! It makes me think of that quote by Anaïs Nin: "We write to taste life twice: in the moment and in retrospect." Blogs, I think, are that second, retrospective taste of life.
